TRAM - Transportation for
Rural Areas of Madison County
TRAM was established in September 1985
as a demand response transit system for rural residents of Madison County.
Riders are requested to make arrangements for transportation at least
24 hours in advance. Vouchers are purchased from drivers as the riders
board the vans. Arrangements may also be made for billing organizations
such as school systems, for whom TRAM provides a valuable service for
handicapped students. Revenues collected from users are accounted for
by the private provider administrative personnel and deducted from the
reimbursement issued by the county. LifeStream Services, Inc. is the private provider of TRAM, amd the service goes by the name of "The New InterUrban". Strict control and record reviews
are performed by MCCOG staff monthly prior to a reimbursement check
being issued to the provider.
