Daily Monitoring
The air quality in Madison County is monitored daily by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM). An ozone monitoring station is located in Emporia, and a particulate matter monitoring station is in Anderson.

AQAD’s
When the air quality is not healthy for sensitive groups, IDEM proclaims an Air Quality Action Day (AQAD). Sensitive groups should take caution and all residents should take action to make the air cleaner.

How Do I Know?
When an AQAD is called, it is broadcast through a variety of media sources such as newspaper, radio, and television. Residents can also sign up for Smogwatch email alerts from IDEM at www.smogwatch.in.gov.
