| The Clean Air Aware Program is a part of the services provided by the Madison County Council of Governments (MCCOG). MCCOG is a cooperative, county-wide planning organization funded in part by Alexandria, Anderson, Elwood, Pendleton, and Madison County, Indiana. Our charter agreement was signed in 1969 in recognition of the need for cross-community cooperation geared toward the solution of common problems faced throughout the county.
In 2007, the agency was awarded a Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) grant from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to develop an education and marketing program to increase community awareness of air quality concerns in the Anderson Metropolitan Planning Area. Activities include the printing and distributing of informational brochures, participation in community events, and advertising through radio and billboard during peak ozone months.
