The event organizers have work diligently to create a low impact, ‘green’ event to compliment additional activities taking place as part of 2011 Earth Day – Arbor Fest. Proceeds from the event will go to the Anderson Parks Foundation to develop additional programs for physical fitness including running, walking and biking.

Thousands of bibs are simply thrown away each year after events. Your Arbor Day race bib will be printed on specially formulated paper imbedded with flower seeds. After the race, simply plant them in the ground, add a little water and watch the beautiful flowers grow.

Most of you have participated in numerous events that give-away shirts that are in turn thrown or given away. If you would like a t-shirt to commemorate the 2011 Arbor Day Biathlon you can preorder a shirt on the registration form. Only shirts requested during registration will be accommodated.

We will have water available on the course but you need to supply your own water bottle. If you would like to order a commemorate 2011 Arbor Day Biathlon water bottle, you can preorder one on the registration form. Only water bottles requested during registration will be accommodated. By eliminating the cups at water stops we don’t need to supply over 5,000 paper cups thus saving a lot of trees!

If you have an old pair or two of running/walking shoes that are too good to be thrown out bring them to the race site and we will recycle/donate them to a local charity.
